Club West Gaming Lounge sits inside Assiniboia Downs, at 3975 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3K 2E9. It is a licensed lounge of about 4,000 square feet with 140 VLTs. The track's phone number is 204-885-3330.
That makes it a gaming room at a racetrack, not a full casino, so this guide describes no live table games here. The machines have some history. In 1994 Assiniboia Downs received machines that combine pari-mutuel race wagering with VLT-style games. The Manitoba Lotteries Corporation owned and operated them.

The racetrack around the lounge
Assiniboia Downs is open year round, with daily televised racing and dining alongside the lounge. Live thoroughbred racing runs in season. In 2026 that meant 50 race days, from May 12 to October 7.
Race nights fell on every Tuesday and Wednesday, plus select Mondays, with post time at 7:30 PM. Admission and parking were free on those nights. Dates for the next season are on the track's own site, not here.
Bring cash if you plan to wager on the races, since all race wagering is in cash. ATMs are on site, and a racing program costs $3 at Guest Services. The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority of Manitoba licenses every horse race track in the province.
How it differs from a casino
Winnipeg has two casinos, Club Regent Casino and McPhillips Station Casino, both owned and operated by Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries. Club West is something else: a VLT lounge attached to a racetrack, not a casino floor. If you want a full casino inside the city, those two are the rooms to look at.
Manitoba casinos are closed to anyone under 18. The LGCA says staff cannot judge age by appearance, so carry valid ID for any regulated gambling purchase, VLTs included.
