Every page of this guide carries one name: Maren Lacroix. This page explains who she is, what she holds up on the site, and where her facts come from. It also says plainly what she is not.
Who Maren Lacroix is
Maren Lacroix signs this guide and hosts it, from the home page to the practical notes. She is a character created for the guide, not a real person. The pictures of her are not of a real person either. Think of her as a friendly face on a cold night, put there to point you at the facts.
She works for no casino, gaming centre or racetrack. Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries does not employ her either. She never plays, not at a table and not at a machine. Her place here is simple: hold up a fact and point at the tools.
What Maren holds up on the site
On each casino and gaming room page, Maren holds a board with one checked fact. It is the straight-line distance from the Downtown and The Forks area centre. Shark Club gets a different board: its place in Cityplace, on the 2nd floor.
The home page shows her with a board saying the two gaming rooms are not casinos. Club West Gaming Lounge and Shark Club Gaming Centre stay in their own category. On the area page, she points at the distance table and holds a phone showing the compass.
Elsewhere she keeps things short. Small notes from her sit beside paragraphs on venue pages and practical pages. They read like a neighbour leaning over the fence in January, brief because it is cold.
How her facts are checked
Addresses, phone numbers and table times come from the venues' own pages, Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries and the LGCA. Each fact is stored with its source and the date it was checked, in October 2026. Where those pages disagree, the value is left out. That is why the guide prints no opening hours for Club Regent, McPhillips Station or South Beach. For those, check each venue's own site.
Distances follow a different rule. Each one is a straight line between one of ten area centre points and a venue, rounded to whole kilometres. The centres are approximate, not street addresses. These are not road distances, and the guide gives no drive times.
Nobody pays for this guide: no casino, no gaming centre, not Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries. The only paid link is the online button on the home page, marked Ad. It earns the site a commission, and it appears nowhere else.
